At Kyoto Uji Fujii Meien, the focus is undoubtedly on quality teas and exquisite matcha-based desserts. Here, you can indulge in a traditional 茶懐石膳 (Chakaiseki meal). Choose from their meticulously crafted menu:

  • Chakaiseki Meal (JP¥2,400): This platter features five beautiful 小鉢 (obanzai bowls) showcasing seasonal delicacies, accompanied by matcha salt rice, red miso soup, pickles, and the daily Uji tea.
  • Chakaiseki Meal (JP¥1,980): Similar to the first, but with three obanzai bowls, allowing you to sample a slightly lighter option while still enjoying a full immersion into traditional flavors.
  • Matcha Chazuke with Salmon and Ikura (JP¥1,870): A unique twist featuring a comforting broth with rice, salmon, and salmon roe, making for a heartwarming dish that embraces the best of Japanese cuisine.

Each dish is an artwork in itself, combining fragrant aromas and vibrant colors that tantalize your taste buds. Lovely hidden gem in Shibuya. Good food and great service. Best of all, nice quiet ambience perfect for a relaxing afternoon. No crazy long queues typical of matcha cafes in Japan! Ordered matcha soft serve which was wonderful, enhanced with crispy rice, rice dumplings, adzuki beans and matcha syrup (both a tad sweet though). Came with choice of tea - which you brew on your own.

A Matcha Gem in Shibuya We were a bit unsure about waiting since there was a line, but we were seated surprisingly fast — and honestly, it was so worth it. The place has a slightly fancy feel, but what really stands out is the incredible attention to detail and the clear love they have for tea and sweets. Everything was beautifully prepared and served with real care. Only thing was that they did not offer any milk alternatives- but considering the fact that they mix their regular milk for the matcha late with condense milk to achieve perfect consistency I guess it does make sense.

It was full at lunch time but they could accommodate me as a single person. Really nice place to experience some authentic Japanese dining. I got the bigger Kaiseki set, it was lovely.

Amazingly good Matcha tea house in an upscale mall at Shibuya, offering a good selection of matcha, sencha and desserts. Had the matcha terrine and it was sweet, bitter to taste with a smooth texture. The matcha lattes were good and non-sugar options are available upon request. Ambience of the teahouse was serene and nice despite being located in a mall. Would definitely be back to try the matcha alcohol menu!

A favourite spot in Tokyo! Elegant and calm atmosphere, a piece of quiet within the buzzing Shibuya. Incredible matcha quality and delicious desserts! Will definitely come back. I went on Friday evening around 19:30 and could walk right in, no waiting.

I had cold zenzai, matcha ice cream and Kyoto namafu. Also Karigane stem tea (Kuki cha). Tea stem tea was very new to me. It was a good experience.

I loved the Matcha “Asahi” latte – more expensive but you can really taste the difference vs. regular matcha latte. We tried the dessert taster set and it was good. It’s a little annoying that there’s a time limit even when it wasn’t busy. Place is a little too loud and open.
